About BlabOff

The BlabOff was invented in the early 1960s as a primitive television remote control that switched the speaker (ie. volume) on or off. Since the primary purpose was to turn off commercial advertisements the name Blaboff seemed personally reasonable.

Composed of a single toggle switch in a gray metal project box the Blaboff was connected to the television by a 25 foot long 4-conductor telephone wire.

It was common for guests to comment on how they wished their televisions had a Blaboff.

The BlabOff web site allows for random commentary on the world as reported by the media and mostly produced with the mute enabled on the tv next to my personal computers.
